22:1 Then David said, “The house of the LORD God is to be here, and also the altar of burnt offering for Israel.”
22:2 So David gave orders to assemble the aliens living in Israel, and from among them he appointed stonecutters to prepare dressed stone for building the house of God.
22:3 He provided a large amount of iron to make nails for the doors of the gateways and for the fittings, and more bronze than could be weighed.
22:4 He also provided more cedar logs than could be counted, for the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought large numbers of them to David.
22:5 David said, “My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the LORD should be of great magnificence and fame and splendor in the sight of all the nations. Therefore I will make preparations for it.” So David made extensive preparations before his death.
22:6 Then he called for his son Solomon and charged him to build a house for the LORD, the God of Israel.
22:7 David said to Solomon: “My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God.
22:8 But this word of the LORD came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and have fought many wars. You are not to build a house for my Name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.
22:9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon, and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign.
22:10 He is the one who will build a house for my Name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’
22:11 “Now, my son, the LORD be with you, and may you have success and build the house of the LORD your God, as he said you would.
22:12 May the LORD give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God.
22:13 Then you will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
22:14 “I have taken great pains to provide for the temple of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver, quantities of bronze and iron too great to be weighed, and wood and stone. And you may add to them.
22:15 You have many workmen: stonecutters, masons and carpenters, as well as men skilled in every kind of work
22:16 in gold and silver, bronze and iron–craftsmen beyond number. Now begin the work, and the LORD be with you.”
22:17 Then David ordered all the leaders of Israel to help his son Solomon.
22:18 He said to them, “Is not the LORD your God with you? And has he not granted you rest on every side? For he has handed the inhabitants of the land over to me, and the land is subject to the LORD and to his people.
22:19 Now devote your heart and soul to seeking the LORD your God. Begin to build the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the sacred articles belonging to God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
22:1 Then David said, This is the house of Jehovah God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel.
22:2 And David ordered the gathering of the sojourners who were in the land of Israel. And he appointed masons to hew the wrought stones for the building of the house of God.
22:3 And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails of the doors of the gates and for the clasps; and bronze in abundance, without weight;
22:4 And cedar trees without number, for the Sidonians and the Tyrians brought cedar trees in vast quantity to David.
22:5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built to Jehovah must be exceedingly great in fame and glory throughout all lands; I will therefore make preparations for it. So David prepared an abundance before his death.
22:6 Then he called for Solomon his son and commanded him to build a house for Jehovah the God of Israel.
22:7 And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was on my heart to build a house for the name of Jehovah my God.
22:8 But the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, You have shed blood abundantly and have waged great wars. You shall not build a house for My name, for you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight.
22:9 Behold, a son will be born to you. He will be a man of rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies around him, for Solomon will be his name, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel throughout his days.
22:10 It is he who will build a house for My name; and he will be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.
22:11 Now, my son, may Jehovah be with you; and may you prosper and build the house of Jehovah your God, as He has spoken concerning you.
22:12 Only, let Jehovah give you insight and understanding, and let Him give you charge over Israel that you may keep the law of Jehovah your God;
22:13 Then you will prosper if you are certain to perform the statutes and ordinances with which Jehovah charged Moses concerning Israel. Be strong and be bold; do not be afraid or dismayed.
22:14 Now then in my affliction I have prepared for the house of Jehovah one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver and bronze and iron without weight, for it is in abundance; and timber and stone I have prepared; and you may add to these.
22:15 And with you there are workmen in abundance, masons and workers in stone and wood and all manner of men who are skillful in every kind of work.
22:16 To the gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no number. Arise and do it, and may Jehovah be with you.
22:17 And David commanded all the leaders of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,
22:18 Indeed Jehovah your God is with you. And He has given you rest all around. For He has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land has been subdued before Jehovah and before His people.
22:19 Now set your heart and your soul to seek after Jehovah your God; and arise and build the sanctuary of Jehovah God, in order to bring the Ark of the Covenant of Jehovah and all the holy vessels of God to the house that is to be built for the name of Jehovah.
