Exo 24

24:1 Then he said to Moses, “Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. You are to worship at a distance,

24:2 but Moses alone is to approach the LORD; the others must not come near. And the people may not come up with him.”

24:3 When Moses went and told the people all the LORD’S words and laws, they responded with one voice, “Everything the LORD has said we will do.”

24:4 Moses then wrote down everything the LORD had said. He got up early the next morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars representing the twelve tribes of Israel.

24:5 Then he sent young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as fellowship offerings to the LORD.

24:6 Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.

24:7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.”

24:8 Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

24:9 Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel went up

24:10 and saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was something like a pavement made of sapphire, clear as the sky itself.

24:11 But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God, and they ate and drank.

24:12 The LORD said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commands I have written for their instruction.”

24:13 Then Moses set out with Joshua his aide, and Moses went up on the mountain of God.

24:14 He said to the elders, “Wait here for us until we come back to you. Aaron and Hur are with you, and anyone involved in a dispute can go to them.”

24:15 When Moses went up on the mountain, the cloud covered it,

24:16 and the glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai. For six days the cloud covered the mountain, and on the seventh day the LORD called to Moses from within the cloud.

24:17 To the Israelites the glory of the LORD looked like a consuming fire on top of the mountain.

24:18 Then Moses entered the cloud as he went on up the mountain. And he stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

24:1 Then He said to Moses, Come up to Jehovah, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship at a distance.

24:2 And Moses alone shall come near to Jehovah, but they shall not come near, nor shall the people come up with him.

24:3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of Jehovah and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice and said, All the words which Jehovah has spoken we will do.

24:4 And Moses wrote down all the words of Jehovah. And he rose up early in the morning and built an altar at the base of the mountain and twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.

24:5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of bulls to Jehovah.

24:6 And Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

24:7 And he took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, All that Jehovah has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient.

24:8 So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said, Here is the blood of the covenant, which Jehovah has made with you in accordance with all these words.

24:9 Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up.

24:10 And they saw the God of Israel, and under His feet there was something like a paved work of sapphire, even like heaven itself for clearness.

24:11 And He did not stretch out His hand upon the nobles of the children of Israel. And they beheld God and ate and drank.

24:12 And Jehovah said to Moses, Come up to Me at the top of the mountain, and be there; and I will give you the tablets of stone with the law and the commandment, which I have inscribed for their instruction.

24:13 And Moses rose up with Joshua his attendant, and Moses went up to the top of the mountain of God.

24:14 And he had said to the elders, Wait here for us until we return to you. Both Aaron and Hur are here with you; whoever has a cause, let him come near to them.

24:15 And Moses went up to the top of the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.

24:16 And the glory of Jehovah settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

24:17 And the appearance of the glory of Jehovah was like consuming fire on the top of the mountain to the eyes of the children of Israel.

24:18 And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up on the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
