24:1 Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings.
24:2 “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “I tell you the truth, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
24:3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
24:4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you.
24:5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
24:6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
24:7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
24:8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
24:9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me.
24:10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other,
24:11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
24:12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
24:13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
24:15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel–let the reader understand–
24:16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
24:17 Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house.
24:18 Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak.
24:19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!
24:20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.
24:21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now–and never to be equaled again.
24:22 If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.
24:23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it.
24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect–if that were possible.
24:25 See, I have told you ahead of time.
24:26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.
24:27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
24:28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
24:29 “Immediately after the distress of those days “‘the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’
24:30 “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
24:31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
24:32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.
24:33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.
24:34 I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
24:36 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
24:37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
24:38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;
24:39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.
24:40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.
24:41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
24:42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
24:43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.
24:44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
24:45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time?
24:46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.
24:47 I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
24:48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’
24:49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
24:50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of.
24:51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
24:1 And Jesus came out from the temple and was going away, and His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple.
24:2 But He answered and said to them, Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, There shall by no means be left here a stone upon a stone, which shall not be thrown down.
24:3 And as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, Tell us, When will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming and of the consummation of the age?
24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, See that no one leads you astray.
24:5 For many will come in My name, saying, I am the Christ, and they will lead many astray.
24:6 And you will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for it must happen; but the end is not yet.
24:7 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
24:8 All these things are the beginning of birth pangs.
24:9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations because of My name.
24:10 And at that time many will be stumbled and will deliver up one another and will hate one another.
24:11 And many false prophets will arise and will lead many astray.
24:12 And because lawlessness will be multiplied, the love of the many will grow cold.
24:13 But he who has endured to the end, this one shall be saved.
24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole inhabited earth for a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.
24:15 Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let him who reads understand),
24:16 Then let those in Judea flee to the mountains;
24:17 Let him who is on the housetop not come down to take the things out of his house;
24:18 And let him who is in the field not turn back to take his garment.
24:19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days.
24:20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter, nor on a Sabbath,
24:21 For at that time there will be great tribulation, such as has not occurred from the beginning of the world until now, nor shall by any means ever occur.
24:22 And unless those days had been cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen, those days will be cut short.
24:23 At that time if anyone says to you, Behold, here is the Christ! or, Here! do not believe it.
24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders so as to lead astray, if possible, even the chosen.
24:25 Behold, I have told you beforehand.
24:26 Therefore if they say to you, Behold, He is in the wilderness, do not go forth; Behold, He is in the inner rooms, do not believe it.
24:27 For just as the lightning comes forth from the east and shines to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
24:28 Wherever the corpse is, there will the vultures be gathered together.
24:29 And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
24:30 And at that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the land will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
24:31 And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His chosen together from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other end.
24:32 But learn the parable from the fig tree: As soon as its branch has become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that the summer is near.
24:33 So also you, when you see all these things, know that it is near, at the doors.
24:34 Truly I say to you that this generation shall by no means pass away until all these things happen.
24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words shall by no means pass away.
24:36 But concerning that day and hour, no one knows, not even the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but the Father only.
24:37 For just as the days of Noah were, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
24:38 For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day in which Noah entered into the ark,
24:39 And they did not know that judgment was coming until the flood came and took all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
24:40 At that time two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left.
24:41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left.
24:42 Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord comes.
24:43 But know this, that if the householder had known in which watch the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
24:44 For this reason you also be ready, because at an hour when you do not expect it, the Son of Man is coming.
24:45 Who then is the faithful and prudent slave, whom the master has set over his household to give them food at the proper time?
24:46 Blessed is that slave whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.
24:47 Truly I say to you that he will set him over all his possessions.
24:48 But if that evil slave says in his heart, My master delays,
24:49 And begins to beat his fellow slaves and eats and drinks with the drunken,
24:50 The master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour which he does not know,
24:51 And will cut him asunder and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. In that place there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
