OTNT

Mt 6

6:1 “Be careful not to do your ‘acts of righteousness’ before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

6:2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

6:3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

6:4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

6:5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

6:7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.

6:8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

6:9 “This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

6:10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

6:11 Give us today our daily bread.

6:12 Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’

6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

6:15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

6:16 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

6:17 But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face,

6:18 so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

6:19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

6:22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.

6:23 But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?

6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

6:27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

6:28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.

6:29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.

6:30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

6:31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

6:32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

6:1 But take care not to do your righteousness before men in order to be gazed at by them; otherwise, you have no reward with your Father who is in the heavens.

6:2 Therefore when you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward in full.

6:3 But you, when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

6:4 So that your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

6:5 And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward in full.

6:6 But you, when you pray, enter into your private room, and shut your door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

6:7 And in praying do not babble empty words as the Gentiles do; for they suppose that in their multiplicity of words they will be heard.

6:8 Therefore do not be like them, for your Father knows the things that you have need of before you ask Him.

6:9 You then pray in this way: Our Father who is in the heavens, Your name be sanctified;

6:10 Your kingdom come; Your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth.

6:11 Give us today our daily bread.

6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

6:13 And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

6:14 For if you forgive men their offenses, your heavenly Father will forgive you also;

6:15 But if you do not forgive men their offenses, neither will your Father forgive your offenses.

6:16 And when you fast, do not be like the sullen-faced hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, They have their reward in full.

6:17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

6:18 So that you may not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will repay you.

6:19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves dig through and steal.

6:20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not dig through nor steal.

6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

6:22 The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is single, your whole body will be full of light;

6:23 But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be dark. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

6:24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

6:25 Because of this, I say to you, Do not be anxious for your life, what you should eat or what you should drink; nor for your body, what you should put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than clothing?

6:26 Look at the birds of heaven. They do not sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father nourishes them. Are you not of more value than they?

6:27 Who among you by being anxious can add one cubit to his stature?

6:28 And why are you anxious concerning clothing? Consider well the lilies of the field, how they grow. They do not toil, neither do they spin thread.

6:29 But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these.

6:30 And if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is cast into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you, you of little faith?

6:31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed?

6:32 For all these things the Gentiles are anxiously seeking. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

6:34 Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself; sufficient for the day is its own evil.
