127:1 A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.
127:2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat–for he grants sleep to those he loves.
127:3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.
127:4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one’s youth.
127:5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
127:1 Unless Jehovah builds the house, / Those who build it labor in vain. / Unless Jehovah keeps the city, / The guard watches in vain.
127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, / To stay up late, / To eat the bread of toil; / All the same, He gives to His beloved while they sleep.
127:3 Behold, children are the heritage of Jehovah, / The fruit of the womb a reward.
127:4 Like arrows in the hand of a mighty man, / So are the children of one s youth.
127:5 Blessed is the man / Who fills his quiver with them. / He will not be put to shame / When he speaks with enemies in the gate.
