Ps 45

45:1 For the director of music. To the tune of”Lilies.” Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil. A wedding song. My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

45:2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.

45:3 Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.

45:4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

45:5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.

45:6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

45:7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

45:8 All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad.

45:9 Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.

45:10 Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father’s house.

45:11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

45:12 The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift, men of wealth will seek your favor.

45:13 All glorious is the princess within her chamber; her gown is interwoven with gold.

45:14 In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her and are brought to you.

45:15 They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.

45:16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.

45:17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.

45:1 My heart overflows with a good matter; / I speak what I have composed concerning the King. / My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

45:2 You are fairer than the sons of men; / Grace is poured upon Your lips; / Therefore God has blessed You forever.

45:3 Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O mighty One, / In Your majesty and Your splendor.

45:4 And in Your splendor ride on victoriously / Because of truth and meekness and righteousness; / And let Your right hand teach You awesome deeds.

45:5 Your arrows are sharp: / The peoples fall under You; / The arrows are in the heart of the King s enemies.

45:6 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; / The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom.

45:7 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; / Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You / With the oil of gladness above Your companions.

45:8 All Your garments smell of myrrh and aloes, of cassia; / From palaces of ivory, harpstrings have made You glad.

45:9 The daughters of kings are among Your most prized; / The queen stands at Your right hand in the gold of Ophir.

45:10 Hear, O daughter, and see; and incline your ear; / And forget your people and your father s house;

45:11 Thus the King will desire your beauty. / Because He is your Lord, / Worship Him.

45:12 And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; / The rich among the people will entreat your favor.

45:13 The king s daughter is all glorious within the royal abode; / Her garment is a woven work inwrought with gold.

45:14 She will be led to the King in embroidered clothing; / The virgins behind her, her companions, / Will be brought to You.

45:15 They will be led with rejoicing and exultation; / They will enter the King s palace.

45:16 In the place of Your fathers will be Your sons; / You will make them princes in all the earth.

45:17 I will cause Your name to be remembered in all generations; / Therefore the peoples will praise You forever and ever.
